Not Just a Blender
I love this blender. The comfortable handle for my 83 year old hands & 5 year warranty are a plus. I wish I had bought it sooner rather than waiting till my old (not Vitamix) blender died. Have made smoothies and soups with no problem. Soups are fun and easy & are piping hot right from the Vitamix. It was delivered in less than 24 hrs using my new Prime membership. Recipe book is huge & extensive. The platinum color is beautiful, although refurbished, it looks brand new. I have had it less than a week & use it daily. This is not just "a blender" it's a Vitamix. This should be used as the advertising slogan. I am happy with Vitamix & with Amazon.
I always feared a good Vitamix was out of our reach
This item has changed our life. I always feared a good Vitamix was out of our reach, but this refurbished one was perfect. I don't think a day has gone by in the last 2 months we haven't used it. Smoothies every morning. I tried making soup in it once, but it sucked, but that was my fault not the blenders. We debated getting a second pitcher, but so far have been satisfied with just one.
Why oh Why Did I Wait So Long
Why oh why did I wait so long to buy one of these? This machine puts every other blending machine to shame. I resisted forking out the dough for one of these for ten (wasted!) years, and regret it now. This thing is magical, and now I know why my friends have all been urging me to get one all this time. It's the BMW of blenders, totally worth the spend. The refurb is absolutely like-new perfect, and I use it every single day. If you've been waiting--just do it. Get this great deal on a refurb and thank yourself every day as you enjoy your perfect green smoothies, soups, frozen desserts etc.
I love this blender and have wanted it for about 10
I love this blender and have wanted it for about 10 years. When I saw a reconditioned one here I decided that I could justify the price. I made tomato sauce using the whole tomato all Summer long and everyone loves it. I make asmoothy using ice cubes almost daily and have made almond butter and almond milk as well as coconut milk. It is a work horse and a counter staple in my house
NICE BLENDER - NO TAMPER
NO TAMPER - very nice blender - BUT description states: "The product ships with relevant accessories". I expected some use, care, and warranty information, a TAMPER, and maybe the recipe book. I received a very nice blender motor and jar in a large plain box. I am very happy with the motor and jar. I can get recipes from youtube and I can cut the end off a broom handle for a tamper. Or maybe they just forgot to include the relevant accessories in the box and are sending them separately, we shall wait and see.
This thing is amazing. With only the juice (so under a cup) from 3 small cans of diced tomatoes, I pureed 3 pounds of peppers and onions. When I finished, I put the puree through a pretty fine mesh strainer. There were almost invisible bits of maybe skin? at the end, but virtually nothing and the puree passed straight through. I've made soup a bunch of times, smoothies and looking forward to making so much more. Watch for the refurb open box deals, you can get a Vitamix for a steal (under $225). I am so happy I decided to go for it!
There are stronger, cheaper alternatives.
Just a basic blender with the Vitamix name brand on it. I was disappointed with the ice crushing power, which was the most important quality for me, as I make a lot of smoothies and frozen beverages, but having to use the tapper nonstop was just inconvenient. [I bought a Ninja Duo instead (going against my personal rule of sticking with products made in our good old USA) and it has not disappointed. Just put in pure ice (in either the cup or full pitcher), turn it on, and you get honest-to-goodness snow. It's perfect for snow-cones.] This Vitamix was a certified refurbished blender, so although they say they've brought it back to original working condition, I can't attest to that fact.
